Quote of the week

For you own sanity, go for a walk.

In summary

This week, I finally felt grounded back into Eastern Standard Time and my every day life and schedule. Responsibilities, projects, and outstanding work began filling my mind again. I didn’t take many pictures, too busy living it this week. I attended a storytelling webinar hosted by Pip Decks. I’ve been enjoying the webinars they offer around this topic because it’s something I want to be really good at. Over the weekend, I went on a fun retreat, went to a pool hall to play pool (hadn’t done that in years), and went to pilates in the park with one of my friends.

The soundtrack

It’s Pride Month here in the US and I must show reverence to the originators of house music (gay Black American men). The week’s soundtrack was house music to the max, hunty! The June playlist by Curls in the Hood is giving!

Manifesto

I attended Candace Brathwaite’s fireside chat for her book, Manifesto (affiliate link). I had a lovely time tuning in and talking to some of the fellow attendees there. The book dropped last year and she had a tour scheduled then to promote it, but she had to reschedule many of her dates to this year. And chile, there was a bar making strong rum slushies and delicious smelling Caribbean food for sale!

The book is a great introduction to manifesting. It doesn’t share anything that I didn’t already know or practice regularly, but I enjoyed her storytelling. She explained manifestation in simple and relatable ways that makes it a great introduction to newbies about deliberate manifesting.

Gifts

I had fun curating gifts for two of my new mentees and had to stop myself from buying more items!

Nourishment

So good, I thanked myself out loud for making it. This shrimp tomato sauce creation I made on the fly was so damn delicious and flavorful. All week I enjoyed it over rice, gluten free pasta, or on top of roasted sweet potatoes.

I’m lovin it

During the week I was lovin

  • That shrimp and tomato sauce that I made (Bussin!)
  • Homemade walnut milk made with my new nut milk machine (Adios, store bought nut milk!)
  • Honey water (learned about this while visiting Japan. I’m obsessed and will share the recipe!)
  • My new Ninja Crispi

This week I’m looking forward to

  • Juneteenth events happening throughout the city
  • Putting some wall art up in my office area
  • Swinging on a swing at a park

What are you looking forward to this week?
