Week 14 in 2025

“I sing, I write, and I conjure. I’ve been so low but still I rose.”

-Ariel J, ‘Mag!c’

In Summary

The week was steeped in creativity and community. It reminded me that I have a process to my alchemy- embrace it. Though the Tik Tok bagel recipe that I tried was a fail (maybe my baking powder’s old), I had brunch with a friend who was in town, checked out Amy Sherald’s ‘American Sublime’ exhibit at the Whitney Museum of American Art, and enjoyed a cozy, rainy Saturday at home.

The soundtrack

I recently learned of a dope artist named Ariel J and her new album that recently dropped stayed on replay all week. I especially love the swaggy song, ‘glow88 (Remix)’ on it because it’s filled with positive affirmations and I’m about that life.

Breakfast in the city

An old colleague turned friend was in town for work. We met up for breakfast in the Financial District at an intimate spot called La Parisienne. This french toast was DIVINE.

It was a gift catching up with her and our conversation consisted of vulnerability, laughs, life giving affirmations, and prayers. I’m very community and relationship oriented and our breakfast together was another reminder of the amazing people that I have in my life. I’m incredibly thankful for and proud of the life that I’ve created for myself rich in meaningful relationships.

Something to think about

What a thought inducing, conversation starter, right? This piece, titled American Grit, from Amy Sherald’s ‘American Sublime’ exhibit in the Whitney Museum of American Art stopped me in my tracks when my friend and I checked it out last Friday. There are so many ways to interpret it. I think that’s what Sherald may have intended, though. She leaves the interpretation up to viewers and beckons them to discuss amongst each other what they see.

My thoughts about it will go live later this week. If you are in the NYC area or will be soon, the exhibit is worth checking out. What do you see when you look at it?

This needs stickers

Let’s not stop at color and cursive next week. *Whips out printer and Cricut*

Made from scratch with love

We definitely got [good] food at home. Lol. I think I need to make this once a week until I tire of it.

Duly noted

Doesn’t this look more inviting than a blank white space with a bunch of words on it? I was inspired by Lemon8 to create a more visually cool format for taking useful notes when studying/learning new topics.

This week I’m looking forward to

  • Completing my bathroom wallpaper project
  • Finishing all of my crochet baby blanket projects and shipping them off
  • A field trip

What are you looking forward to this week?
